Construction & General Laborers Local 172
Apprenticeships
Construction & General Laborers’ Local 172 (LIUNA Local 172) represents heavy and highway laborers and plant and manufacturing employees in Southern and parts of Central New Jersey. The union offers apprenticeships through the New Jersey Construction Craft Laborers’ Apprenticeship Program (NJCCLAP), which consist of 4,000 hours of paid on-the-job training with an additional 400 hours of classroom training. Participants will be trained to be construction craft laborers, developing skills in scaffold safety, concrete/mason tending, and line and grade/asphalt. Through the Construction Craft Laborers Training and Apprenticeship Fund (CCLTAF), the union also offers continuing skill-based training in various offshore wind-related disciplines, including building construction, heavy and highway construction, construction supervision, environmental remediation, demolition, energy efficiency, rehabilitation and restoration. Additionally, the local 472 Safety Education and Training Fund (SET) provides safety and skills training to the union’s members, either at their training center in Aberdeen, New Jersey, or through their mobile classroom (Trainer One) which delivers safety instruction on-site.
