Sheet Metal Workers Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee Local Union #71

The Sheet Metal Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) of Rochester Local Union (LU) #46 located in Buffalo, New York, offers a mix of classroom instruction and  on-the-job training equipping apprentices with the skills needed to pursue careers in the offshore wind industry. Apprentices gain expertise in architectural sheet metal, detailing, roofing, balancing and adjusting, air conditioning (HVAC), and project management, along with safety instruction through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Participants also have the opportunity to propose new classes to expand their training options.  These skills are essential for the construction and maintenance of offshore wind infrastructure, including occupations like sheet metal installers, detailers, roofers, and/or construction project managers. Graduates become qualified journey-persons, prepared for long term careers that may support offshore wind development. The Sheet Metal JATC of Rochester LU #71 is an active sponsor of New York State Department of Labor’s registered Sheet Metal Worker apprenticeship program.
