Rowan University
Training Facilities
Rowan University offers undergraduate degree, graduate degree, certificate, and doctoral programs in offshore wind-related disciplines like accounting, advertising, biological sciences, cartography and GIS, civil and environmental engineering, computer science, construction management, electrical and computer engineering, environmental and sustainability studies, finance, and more. Of particular note is their partnership with the Gloucester County Institute of Technology and Rowan College of South Jersey for the NJ Wind Turbine Tech Training Challenge grant, through which the three facilities are providing degree and certificate programs offering entry into offshore wind roles. These stackable credentials train students in becoming basic fabrication and assembly workers, turbine technicians with certificates or associate’s degrees, engineering technologists in electrical or mechanical disciplines, mechanical, civil, and electrical engineers with specialized wind power certifications, and more.
The university’s research centers are also advancing technologies that can potentially support the offshore wind industry, such as tools that can measure the properties of seabed sediments, remotely monitor the structural integrity of turbines, rapidly repair damaged turbines, and understand seasonal changes and the impact of storm waves on the seabed.
Additionally, Rowan University partners with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s Wind Institute to offer the Wind Institute Fellowship Program, which funds independent research related to wind energy.
