Roofing Industry Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee of Rochester Local Union #22

Apprenticeships

The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) for the Roofing Industry of Rochester, Local Union #22 offers a mix of classroom instruction and paid, on-the-job training, equipping apprentices with the skills needed to pursue careers in the offshore wind industry. The three-year program prepares apprentices to install, maintain, and repair a wide range of roofing and waterproofing systems, including low-sloped roofs with vegetation and photovoltaics, steep-sloped systems, structural waterproofing, and air-barrier applications. These skills are directly applicable to offshore wind infrastructure, where weatherproofing and sealing are critical for ensuring durability and safety in marine environments.

Graduates become qualified journey-persons, prepared for long-term careers that may support offshore wind infrastructure development.

The Roofing Industry of Rochester, Local Union #22 JATC is an active sponsor of New York State Department of Labor’s registered roofing apprenticeship program.
