Monroe Community College (MCC) offers a wide range of programs and certificates preparing students for careers in the offshore wind industry and broader renewable energy sectors. With Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees in Accounting, Construction Technology, Biology, Legal Studies, and Business Administration – and specialized certificates like the Solar Thermal Certificate program – MCC prepares students for  roles in financial management, environmental sustainability, regulatory compliance, and project development.

The AAS in Accounting program provides students essential financial skills, including budgeting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. These competencies are critical for overseeing the financial aspects of offshore wind projects, ensuring proper resource allocation, and ensuring fiscal sustainability. Graduates are well-prepared to manage budgets, analyze costs, and support the economic planning of offshore wind farms and other clean energy projects.

The AAS in Construction Technology program focuses on the technical skills in construction management,  blueprint reading, and site development.  These capabilities are crucial for the offshore wind sector, where infrastructure development – including turbine manufacturing and maintenance, transmission systems, and port facilities – requires skilled construction oversight. Graduates gain hands-on experience applicable to project coordination and field operations within offshore wind projects.

The AAS in Biology program provides a strong foundation in environmental systems, ecology, and sustainability – key areas for assessing the environmental impacts of offshore wind farms. Students learn to evaluate marine ecosystems, monitor biodiversity, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Graduates are prepared for careers in environmental impact assessment, sustainability consulting, and ecological monitoring for offshore wind development.

The AAS in Legal Studies program prepares students to navigate the regulatory frameworks governing the offshore wind industry. Covering areas such as contract law, environmental regulations, and zoning laws, the program equips graduates to support offshore wind projects through legal compliance, permitting, and policy development. Graduates are well-positioned  to assist in contract management, regulatory oversight, and legal support for renewable energy projects.

The AAS in Business Administration program focuses on strategic management, organizational leadership, and project coordination. Students gain the expertise needed to oversee offshore wind projects, manage interdisciplinary teams, and engage stakeholders. Graduates are prepared for roles in project management, operations coordination, and business development within the offshore wind industry.

Additionally, MCC offers the Solar Thermal Certificate Program, which provides specialized training for individuals seeking entry-level positions as Solar Thermal Installers and Service Technicians, or for those already working in other HVAC fields. While primarily focused on solar energy, this certification offers transferable skills relevant to offshore wind, particularly in sustainable energy technologies, heating systems, and mechanical maintenance – key competencies for offshore wind infrastructure and operations.
