Ironworkers Joint Apprenticeship Committee of Syracuse Local Union #60
Apprenticeships
The Joint Apprenticeship Committee (JATC) for Ironworkers Local Union #60 offers apprenticeship and journeyworker training programs for ironworkers, through a mix of classroom instruction and paid, on-the-job training, equipping trainees with the skills needed to pursue careers in the offshore wind industry.
Through Local Union 60’s four-year program, apprentices gain expertise in reinforcing, structural safety, OSHA safety training, welding, scaffolding, blueprint reading, rigging, foreman training, and other relevant fields. Several of these skills are transferable to offshore wind projects, which require ironworker capabilities for constructing turbines, foundations, and power connection systems. Graduates become qualified journey-persons, prepared for long-term careers that may support offshore wind infrastructure development.
Local Union #60 is an active sponsor of New York State Department of Labor’s registered apprenticeship program for ironworker apprentices.
