Apprenticeships

The International Union of Elevator Constructors Joint Apprenticeship Committee Local Union #35 offers a mix of classroom instruction and paid, on-the-job training, equipping apprentices with the skills needed to pursue careers in the offshore wind industry.

Apprentices gain expertise in the installation, service, maintenance, and modernization of elevators, escalators, moving walkways, and other vertical transportation systems. Learning involves both technical theory in the classroom and practical skills under the supervision of experienced mechanics and includes safety practices and industry standards over a multi-year training program.

These skills are applicable to the construction, maintenance, and modernization of vertical conveyance systems that may support offshore wind infrastructure, operations, and facility development. Graduates become qualified journey-persons, prepared for long-term careers that may contribute to offshore wind infrastructure development.

The International Union of Elevator Constructors Joint Apprenticeship Committee Local Union #35 is an active sponsor of New York State Department of Labor’s registered Elevator/Escalator Constructor and Modernizer apprenticeship program.
