Institute for Workforce Advancement

Training Facilities

The Institute for Workforce Advancement (IWA), a 501(c)3 registered nonprofit, is one of the northeast region’s leading advanced manufacturing workforce-development training organizations. The IWA partners with industry, government, and educational institutions to fill the employment pipeline for in-demand engineers, and installation and technical service workers, with a focus on hard-to-fill positions, and on low-income, high needs communities. They also offer a Composites & Advanced Manufacturing Program, in partnership with Vaughn College, that is focused on composite as an advanced natural and industrial material, their integration with mechanical systems, and the increasing usage in industries that innovate with composites.

These trainings provided by the IWA provide entry points into the offshore wind by preparing participants for diverse roles in the industry such as structural/mechanical engineers, installation specialists as well as technical service workers. Students also receive one college credit at the completion of this program.
