Training Facilities
The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) Local 1588 provides its members with training aligned with offshore wind-related disciplines to its members. leveraging their Master Contract with the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) LTD. This agreement ensures members – including longshoremen, clerks, checkers, and maintenance workers at shops and terminals along the East and Gulf coasts– receive specialized training and periodic re-certifications from USMX management. Training includes operating and handling wheeled equipment, cranes, and other heavy machinery, skills that are essential for managing large-scale offshore wind components. Local 1588 members’ expertise in maritime loading and unloading, and equipment handling positions them as key contributors to various phases of offshore wind project phases, including site preparation, construction, and ongoing operations and maintenance.
