IBEW Local 400
Apprenticeships
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 400 represents Monmouth and Ocean counties of New Jersey and offers apprenticeship and journeyworker training programs in electrical work at their Joint Apprenticeship Training Center. Apprentices will “earn while they learn,” attending school in the evenings while working in the field during the day. Student apprentices are trained in residential wiring, intricate conduit bending, motor controls, high voltage splicing, rigging, in-depth fire alarm installation, and lineman training, all under one roof. Their outdoor sites provide members the ability to train on a larger scale. Of particular note is the union’s wind turbine training program, where apprentices and journeyworkers are trained to climb a model wind turbine tower and prepare for the rigors of climbing and working at high altitudes. Continuing education programs equip journeyworkers with the following skills: Instrumentation & Controls, OSHA 30, Lull, Skid Steer and Trac certification, Crane Operation, Confined Space Operations, Conduit Bending, Motor Controls, PLCs, and Electrical License Updates.
