IAM District 15
Apprenticeships
IAM District 15, in partnership with IAM CREST (Corporation for Re-Employment and Safety Training), offers the Youth Transition to Work Program, an apprenticeship designed to transition high school-graduates into careers in Automotive and Diesel Technology. The program includes comprehensive training in shop safety, customer service, company inspection processes, and technical skills for auto and diesel technicians. Participants gain expertise to work as automotive service technicians, responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing automobiles and light trucks; or as diesel service technicians and mechanics, focusing on diesel engines used in heavy vehicles and transportation equipment.
Additionally, IAM District 15 provides its members and their families with access to higher education through partnerships with U-Learn and Franklin University. This collaboration offers discounted,100% online associate and bachelor’s degree programs with part-time and full-time study options. Courses include offshore wind related disciplines, such as business administration, construction and engineering management, human resource management, accounting, financial management, and computer and information systems. These educational opportunities prepare members for roles in project management, operations, and technical support, which are critical to supporting offshore wind infrastructure development and maintenance.
