Heat & Frost Insulation & Allied Workers Local Union #26

Apprenticeships

The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) for Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers, Local Union #26, offers a mix of classroom instruction and paid, on-the-job training, equipping apprentices with the skills needed to pursue careers in the offshore wind industry. The program trains apprentices in insulation and asbestos handling, preparing them for specialized work in industrial and commercial settings.

Apprentices gain expertise in construction safety, metal jacketing, removable insulation and design, blueprint reading, labor management, and fire seal and penetration certification – all of which are relevant to insulation, fireproofing, and environmental protection of offshore wind facilities. Graduates become qualified journey-persons, prepared for long-term careers that may support offshore wind infrastructure development.

The JATC for Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers, Local Union #26 is an active sponsor of New York State Department of Labor’s registered apprenticeship programs.
