Empire State Merit Apprenticeship Alliance

Apprenticeships

Empire State Merit Apprenticeship Alliance offers a mix of classroom instruction and paid, on-the-job training, equipping apprentices with the skills needed to pursue careers in the offshore wind industry. Apprenticeship programs across multiple trades focus on training construction craft laborers, iron workers, heavy equipment operators, and carpenters.  Graduates become qualified journeypersons within the trade, prepared for long-term careers that may support offshore wind projects. Additionally, the Merit Alliance Construction Training Institute (MACTI) provides pre-apprenticeship training and youth development for those interested in the trades. Coursework includes concrete construction, craft laborer, millwright, pipefitter, and heavy equipment operator training, which imparts skills to participants to prepare them for careers in construction, equipment operation, or materials moving, including in offshore wind related projects. The Merit Apprenticeship Alliance is an active sponsor of multiple New York State Department of Labor’s registered apprenticeship programs in various skilled trades.
