Boilermakers Northeast Local #5 Zone #5 in Floral Park offers an apprenticeship program with a mix of classroom instruction with paid, on-the-job training. Apprentices develop expertise in  welding, blueprint reading, rigging, layout and fabrication, equipment operation and safety, preparing them for careers in the offshore wind industry as welders, fitters, structural steel fabricators, riggers, ironworkers, and repair welders. The program emphasizes technical skill, physical stamina, and the ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions. Apprentices also benefit from opportunities to select training sites by county or contractor, mentorship, and connections to industry professionals. Graduates emerge as qualified journey-persons ready for long-term careers supporting offshore wind infrastructure.
